Sony AN-LP1 Antenna Gone?
The last of the new Sony AN-LP1 active antennas (Passport 2008, pp. 204-205) apparently was sold via Japan on January 8th or 9th. See comment of January 10th.
The AN-LP1 is exceptionally handy for travel and was designed for use with portables. It performs nicely and will be sorely missed.
Update: See here.

Ha! Gotcha! The picture here shows the Sony AN-LP2 not the AN-LP1! The radio is the Sony ICF-SW07.
Ed.: We wondered whose eagle eye would eventually catch this—you get the Kewpie doll! The photo is of our editor’s father using an ICF-SW07 and AN-LP2, both of which are sitting here in the office as this is being typed.
Nice catch!
For those not aware of these distinctions, the AN-LP1 works with most radios, but requires some manual tuning. The AN-LP2 came packaged with the former ICF-SW07 and is more automated. Both look and perform about the same, but the AN-LP2 was only for the ‘SW07 and couldn’t be purchased separately.
